Patricia “Trish” Entsminger, CPA/CFE/CIA
With a Master’s in Taxations and years’ of experience in public accounting, Trish was driven to serve clients in a broader capacity, and not just in one area. Recently her role has expanded to an all-inclusive client experience to provide value to individual and business clients with a wide range of services. She combines her tax, audit, internal controls and CFO knowledge to provide individuals and organizations with an all-inclusive view from planning to compliance, better meeting the clients’ needs.
Since the beginning of her career, Kerkering, Barberio & Co. Shareholder, Patricia “Trish” Entsminger, has been driven to become skilled in more than one practice area. Holding a Master’s in Taxation, she spent her early years in public accounting working in both tax and audit. After joining Kerkering Barberio in 1999, her primary focus became audit. Most recently, her role expanded to include serving as a client’s interim director of internal audit and also as an outsourced CFO for a private business in a high growth mode. From her varied experiences, Trish found that she enjoyed having the knowledge and ability to serve clients in a broader capacity, and not just one area, i.e. tax or audit. She realized that she could provide value to individual and business clients with a wide range of services, from tax strategy to process improvement.
With this in mind, Trish proposed an idea to firm management— to transition from her established audit position into a comprehensive tax and consulting role. In doing so, Trish now combines her tax, audit, internal controls and CFO knowledge to provide individuals and organizations with an all-inclusive view from planning to compliance, better meeting the clients’ needs.
“Trish really comes at this from a holistic perspective,” noted Managing Shareholder, Rob Lane. “By being well rounded in the financial reporting and internal controls side of accounting, along with possessing a thorough understanding of tax implications, she sees a comprehensive picture for her clients.”
From a strategic stance, Trish works with her 1040 and business clients to understand their position or challenge and then conveys how they will be affected, not only from a tax standpoint, but also from a vulnerability perspective, to give a complete picture of the long-term ramifications of any one particular situation or combination of situations. Her years in external and internal audit, combined with functioning in outsourced financial executive roles, provide Trish with great insight on complex tax scenarios. Several of Kerkering Barberio’s clients have already realized the benefits of Trish’s expertise and knowledge. In addition, those who are anticipating changes in their business model or personal situation are potential clients who would benefit from these in-depth services.
Trish’ s practice of public accounting has come full-circle so that she is once again integrating her tax education and experience with her audit and consulting background to offer clients a comprehensive view. “One of the things I value most about Kerkering Barberio is that we don’t see ourselves as just accountants; we strive to become our clients’ trusted advisor and be a part of their success, as well as be there for them during challenging times,” Enstminger explained. “This really rings true for me in my new role, and I’m excited for the opportunity to become more immersed with clients as a part of their financial management team.”
