Estate
Planning The Estate and Trust team of Kerkering Barberio
is involved in all aspects of developing estate, trust and gift plans for their
clients. Our goal is to integrate current income tax planning with your estate
tax plan, keeping in mind that there are aspects of estate planning that are not
tax driven. Some of the areas in which we may be able to assist you are the
following:
- Estates.
- Trusts.
- Gifts.
- Other Services.
Estates We will help you
assess your current financial situation and plan for the distribution of your
assets upon your death. With the changes that are being made in the estate tax,
it is very important for you to review your estate plan on a regular basis. This
planning process may involve titling of property ownership, use of trusts, life
insurance, charitable giving, succession planning for business owners and
distribution of your assets upon death. As your trusted financial advisors, we
can also prepare the estate tax return, if required.
Trusts We can coordinate with your attorney the creation
of any type of trust, which will meet your family's financial needs. This may
include revocable living trusts, special needs trusts, charitable trusts,
irrevocable life insurance trusts, personal residence trusts, grantor retained
annuity trusts, dynasty trusts, QTIP or marital trusts, or credit shelter
bypass trusts. As your knowledgeable tax advisor, we are able to prepare the
income tax returns for any of these trusts, if required, and offer advice on tax
saving distributions.
Gifts A well-planned program of lifetime gifts to
family, friends, and charity can save estate and gift taxes, preserve more of
your assets for your family and other heirs, and ensure that your property
goes to the people you want to have it. We will be glad to assist you in
planning strategies to leverage your million dollar limitation. If gift tax
returns are required, we are able to prepare the gift tax returns for you.
Other Services We have extensive experience in
preparation of Fiduciary Accountings for courts, personal representatives,
beneficiaries and trustees. We are able to assist you in this process with the
new Florida Principal and Income Act.
In addition, we have been successful in representing estates and trusts
before the IRS and have been called upon to be expert witnesses in
litigation.
Please contact Caroline Strickland, CPA*, Shirley Irons Faist, CPA* or
Barbara Jones, CPA*/CFP®, to help you with any of these matters.
