 Medicare enrollment can be one of the most time-consuming tasks facing

The Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 requires issuance of a unique national
provider identifier (NPI) to each physician, supplier, and other healthcare
provider by May 23, 2007. After this date, Medicare requires that the NPI
be used instead of provider identification numbers for billing.
Private payors deadlines will be on an individual company basis which could fall
before or after the date implemented by Medicare. Effective May 23, 2005,
applications are being accepted for NPI numbers. Our Medical Consultants
